Creating posts

The post composer

How the composer is organized, what each part is for, and how to resume or leave a post that is still in progress.

The composer is where almost everything happens in Sofia. It opens over the current page: click “New post”, or “Create” then “Post”.

The layout

AreaWhat you find there
“Publish to…”Your connected accounts: the ones this post will go out on
One card per networkThat network’s text, media, format and time
“Preview”The post as it will appear on each network
The send buttons“Publish to N accounts”, “Schedule N posts” or “Save draft”

The preview is the most underused part. It renders the post network by network: a line break that disappears or a truncated caption shows up before you schedule rather than after. The rendering stays approximate, because a network may crop the media and truncate the caption.

The flow

  • 1. Choose the accounts. Click the accounts under “Publish to…”. Each chosen account opens a card. A “Not connected” network can still be prepared: the connection is offered when you send.
  • 2. Write. Each card has its own text, or let Sofia write it. See Global vs per-network content when a network needs different words.
  • 3. Add media. From your device or “From the library”. See Images and video.
  • 4. Set the network’s format. Each format says whether it “Needs an image”, “Needs a video” or “Can go out without media”. Only TikTok lets you set “Who sees it”.
  • 5. Schedule. Choose “Now” or a date and time, then one of the send buttons. See Scheduling and publishing.

Before sending, the “Who sees what, and when” step summarizes each network, its visibility and its time. “Back to editing” lets you change anything.

Resuming a post

If you left the composer without publishing or saving, Sofia knows. The next time you open it, she asks “Resume unfinished post?”: “Resume post” reopens your post, “Discard” dismisses it.

Leaving without saving

Closing the composer with unsaved text opens “Leave the composer?” with three outcomes: “Save and leave”, “Leave without saving”, or stay to carry on.
