Creating posts
Validation errors
The checks that prevent a post from being sent, what each one means and how to clear it, network by network, before you retry.
The composer checks the post for each chosen network before sending. When a network blocks, a message names it, for example “2 networks are blocking the send”, and says what is missing.
What usually blocks
| Message | Cause |
|---|---|
| “nothing written yet” | A chosen network has no text (“Empty” badge) |
| “a media file is missing” | The format needs an image or a video (“Media missing” badge) |
| “more than N media files” | Too many media files for this network and format |
| “photos and a video can’t go out in the same post” | A single post mixes photos and video |
| “more than N hashtags” / “more than N mentions” | The network’s cap is exceeded |
| “the text is over N characters” | The text is longer than the network’s limit (“Too long” badge) |
| “the video is longer than this account allows” | The video is longer than the account accepts |
| “more than N posts in the thread” | The thread has too many posts |
Clearing them
For length, adapt the network concerned rather than cutting the text everywhere: “Shorter” or “Sofia adapts”. See Global vs per-network content.
For media, first check the network’s rules, because the constraint usually comes from the network rather than Sofia. See Images and video and Posting rules by network.
For a “Not connected” network, you can prepare the content, but each ticked network must be linked to an account before sending: the connection menu offers it and your draft waits for you in the meantime. See Connect a network.
When the network refuses the send
Even a post accepted by the composer can be refused by the network. The report then gives the cause:
- account disconnected;
- content rejected;
- media rejected;
- too many media files;
- caption rejected (too many characters, hashtags or mentions);
- network unavailable;
- too many sends in a row.
Fix the cause, then click “Try again”. See A post failed to publish.
