Posting rules by network
Every network Sofia supports, what it can carry, and what it is called in the API: formats, text limits and media limits.
Sofia supports five networks: Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok and LinkedIn. They agree on almost nothing: the number of images in a post, the difference between a thread and a comment, whether text alone is allowed. This page is the reference for all of it.
Every network
How to connect it: in “Social networks”, “Connect a network”, Sofia redirects you to the network, where you authorize Sofia. You stay in control and can remove access at any time. See Connect a network.

Names that differ between the app and the API
The same things do not always have the same name in the interface and in the API. If you work with the API, the CLI or the AI connector, use the right-hand column.

Media rules
The composer blocks a post that breaks these rules before it reaches the network. Composer media are JPG, PNG or MP4 up to 40 MB, and a single post does not mix photos and videos.

What a longer or richer post becomes depends on the network: a real thread, an article, a carousel.

The editor
The composer does not offer the same thing for every network, because networks do not accept the same content. Each has its card, with its text, media, format and time. The counter shows by how much the text goes over the limit, and the composer blocks sending if there are too many hashtags, mentions or characters. See Writing the post.
Details by network
Most networks behave as you would expect. Here are the ones whose rules surprise.
TikTok: publish or send as a draft
TikTok offers two ways to deliver that behave very differently. “Publish to TikTok” publishes on the account with your settings. “Send as a draft to TikTok” publishes nothing: the post moves to the “Draft sent” state, and you finish it in the TikTok app.
- Who sees it? Only TikTok lets you choose visibility: “Everyone”, “My followers”, “My friends” or “Only me”. A private account has a limited audience and no statistics.
- Settings: comments, duets, stitches, commercial content (your brand or a third party’s) and the video’s cover image.
Instagram: post, reel, story and carousel
Instagram always requires a media file. It needs a professional account linked to a Facebook Page. The figures of an Instagram post can still move for 48 hours.
LinkedIn: profile or Page
When connecting, you choose “Your profile” or a Page you administer, and Sofia publishes in its name. A post, an article, a carousel and a video are possible, up to 3,000 characters.
X: post and thread
A post fits in 280 characters. For more, choose the thread format, up to 25 posts.
Facebook: one Page per connection
Sofia publishes on a Page you administer, and you can only connect one per connection. Post, reel, story or video, up to 63,206 characters.
Statistics by network
All five networks send statistics back to Sofia, but not every figure: some are missing when the network does not provide them, when the account is too small or when it is private. See Analytics for the list of figures and periods.
Networks not open yet
A network that Sofia does not yet offer to your account shows “Soon” in the list and cannot be connected. Through the API, trying to connect it returns 422 platform_not_offered.
